Forward in Mission



Why?

To revive the life of faith in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the raising up of a new generation of missionary disciples.


What?

A Jubilee Year from September 11, 2021 through September 10, 2022 celebrating 250 years of Catholic faith in the archdiocese of Los Angeles on the anniversary of the founding Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, the first church in what is now the Archdiocese.


How?

Archdiocesan events, parish experiences, and ongoing formation. The Jubilee Opening Mass at the Cathedral will be on September 11 at 11:00 a.m.

Deanery 19 – St. Joseph Church (Hawthorne) and St. Catherine of Alexandria Church (Avalon); Masses of Thanksgiving were celebrated on Santa Catalina Island when Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo landed on October 7, 1542 and Sebastián Vizcaíno on November 25, 1602
