Message from Pope Francis Regarding Monterey Park Shooting

STATEMENT BY ARCHBISHOP GOMEZ ON MESSAGE FROM POPE FRANCIS REGARDING MONTEREY PARK SHOOTING

We would like to share with the family of God here in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles a communication received yesterday by Archbishop José H. Gomez from the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre, from His Holiness Pope Francis for the victims and those affected by the shooting in Monterey Park. Archbishop Gomez released the following statement in sharing the Pope’s message:

“This morning, I received a message from Pope Francis, offering his prayers and condolences for those affected by this weekend’s shooting in Monterey Park. I am grateful and touched by this beautiful expression of our Holy Father’s pastoral concern. “United with our Holy Father and our Blessed Mother, let us continue to pray for those who have died. May God wrap them in his merciful love. Let us continue to pray also for those who were wounded, may God grant them healing. And may God give comfort and consolation to all who are grieving.”
